District Programme Office (ICDS)
District Programme Office (Integrated Child Development Scheme) falls under the Directorate of Women and Child Development under Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, Himachal Pradesh. This department works for empowerment of women and overall child development under. Following activities are done under this office at the district level:
Objectives
- Lay the foundation for proper psychological, physical and social development in the child.
- Improve the nutritional and health status of children under the age of six years.
- Decrease in mortality, morbidity, malnutrition and the school dropouts.
- To make effective development in policy making and implementation of programs in various departments to promote child development.
- To make mothers capable of fulfilling their needs of nursing and health needs of their children.
Integrated Child Development Scheme
Under this scheme, 1,344 Anganwari Centres and 7 Mini Anganwari Centres are running in the district. Out of these 1,344 centres, 1,294 Anganwari Centres are running in the rural areas whereas remaining 50 Anganwari Centres fall under the urban areas. Infants between 6 months to 6 years, pregnant mothers, lactating mothers and BPL girl child between the age group of 11 years to 18 years are served under this scheme.
Mukhaymantri Kanyadaan Yojna
An amount of Rs. 40,000/- are are provided to the destitute woman or girl whose father is unable to earn the livelihood of their family due to physical or mental inability, the Nari Seva Sadan residents, divorced women and whose parent’s income is not more than Rs. 35,000/- under this scheme.
Mother Teressa Ashay Matri Sambal Yojna
Financial assistance amounting to Rs. 4,000/- per child per year is provided to destitute women/guardian who is in BPL category or whose annual income is less than Rs 35,000/-. This assistance is limited to the 2 children only and is provided till the child attains the age of 18 years.
Widow Remarriage Scheme
If any widow re-marries, a cheque of Rs. 20,000/- is given to the women and a Fix Deposit worth Rs. 30,000/- for the 5 years term is given to the couple.
Foster Care Scheme
Under this scheme orphan, semi-orphan,neglected, abandoned children or children whose parents are suffering from disease or are HIV positive their guardians are given 2300/ per child per month. There is no income limit for guardians who are in blood relation with parents of the children for others income should not be less than 5000 per month.
Financial Assistance to the Rape Victim
Under this scheme, an assistance of Rs 75,000/- is provided in three installments to the rape victim women. The first installment is given after the FIR, medical report and initial investigation. The second installment is given for service assistance. The third installment is given after completion of testimony or after one year.
Beti Hai Anmol
First Component
On birth of a girl child, a Fixed Deposit worth Rs. 10,000/- is done in the name of the department. This amount is delivered to the girl child on attaining 18 years of age.
Second Component
A scholarship amount from class 1st till graduation is deposited in the bank account of the girl child on the yearly basis. This amount is delivered to the girl child on attaining 18 years of age.
Domestic Violence Protection Act 2005
Any women suffering with Domestic Violence can take the help of ICDS Supervisors. The ICDS Supervisors have been designated as Protection Officers and they are authorised to provide consultancy and legal help to the victim. If required, temporary shelter can be provided to the Domestic Violence Victim.
