Collectorate

The Collectorate Office, headed by the Deputy Commissioner, runs the District Administration, ensures maintenance of law and order and redresses the grievances of the public and implements all the policy decisions of the Government. The Deputy Commissioner office is also responsible for implementation of Central and State Government programs, policies & schemes at grass root level and collecting information regarding the needs and facilities to be provided to the general public.

The Deputy Commissioner evaluates the working of all Government departments within the District. In times of any natural calamities like fire, floods, droughts etc., the Deputy Commissioner calls for military assistance and co-ordinates the efforts of the Civil-Military administration. He is assisted by a number of other officers at the district headquarters such as Additional District Magistrate, Assistant Commissioner to Deputy Commissioner, District Revenue Officer, District Planning Officer, Assistant Controller (Finance & Accounts) in carrying out functions of the district administration. At the sub division level, the Sub Divisional Officer (Civil)-cum-Sub Divisional Magistrate is responsible for the administration who is assisted by the Tehsildars/Naib Tehsildars, Kanungos, Patwaris and other officials. Block Development Officer at Development Blocks assist in the execution of the Rural Development activities. The head quarters of district Hamirpur is situated at Mini Secretariat, Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh.
